This year I decided to make my study of history something more than just a hobby and began my graduate studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, United States of America. I have an undergraduate degree in General Engineering from The U.S. Military Academy and a MS in business from the University of Northern Colorado. I am the technical director and write and test real-time software for EDSI. I plan to concentrate on European history and specifically the Victorian era in Britain.

This web site was developed as an assignment for the HI607 - History and New Media, which I am taking in my second semester of my graduate studies. The course explores the adaptation of history to a digital environment. Unlike students who take this course at the end of their graduate work and have prior research that they adapted to a web presentation, I have tried to research this topic with the understanding that it would appear only on the web. An interesting find I made while researching this subject was that my roommate from West Point published a paper at the US Army War College in 1999 entitled “The Boer War Lessons That Changed and Prepared the British Army for WW1.” It seems we had more in common in college than drinking beer.

The web offers many challenges to a developer in presenting worthwhile in-depth information while keeping the user engaged. Any comments on my success or lack thereof be registered at my blog.
