The year 1897 marked the 60th year of the reign of Britian's Queen Victoria. She became the longest reigning monarch of Britain and the United Kingdom. The Procession
At the time of the Diamond Jubilee the British Empire was the most powerful empire in the world. The sun never set on the empire and within its territories, dominions and protectorates were over 150% of the people of the world.
